Job Overview: Utilityman (General Worker) x8 – ERI

These are manual, unskilled labour roles that involve heavy-duty physical work such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and holding equipment. Utilitymen help maintain Eskom’s technical operations by keeping workshops clean, safe, and compliant with safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • 1–2 years’ experience in a technical field
  • Experience with cleaning of workshops

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Good time management
  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • Knowledge of HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment)
  • Conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of safety rules and procedures
  • Knowledge of OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the workshop
  • Handle tools and equipment properly
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks
  • Support SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) compliance
