The City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality is a metropolitan municipality that manages the local governance of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is divided into several branches and departments in order to expedite services for the city.
City of Johannesburg invites graduates to apply for Internships Programme in 2025. The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering 18-month student internship opportunities under its Social Development Department to help students gain essential workplace exposure required for graduation or post-qualification experiential training.
These internships are open to youth residing in the Johannesburg community who have never participated in an internship programme related to their course of study.
Available Internship Positions
1. Internship: Capital Projects & Repairs
- Location: Thuso House
- Stipend: R10 109,86 pm (No benefits)
- Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/NQF Level 4
- Diploma in Built Environment (Quantity Surveying, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Building)
- OR Project Management Certificate or Administration/Management Degree
- Only Johannesburg residents considered

2. Internship: Social Worker – Substance Abuse Unit
- Location: Traduna Building
- Stipend: R10 109,86 pm (No benefits)
- Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 + 4-year BA Degree in Social Work
- Registration with SACSSP
- Computer literacy
- Only Johannesburg residents considered

3. Internship: PWD Coordinator – Targeted Beneficiaries Unit

- Stipend: R10 109,86 pm (No benefits)
- Minimum Requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12 + BA Social Sciences Degree (NQF 7)
- Valid driver’s license
- Only Johannesburg residents considered

- Grade 12/NQF Level 4
