Job Overview: Utilityman (General Worker) x8 – ERI
These are manual, unskilled labour roles that involve heavy-duty physical work such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and holding equipment. Utilitymen help maintain Eskom’s technical operations by keeping workshops clean, safe, and compliant with safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 1–2 years’ experience in a technical field
- Experience with cleaning of workshops
Key Skills and Competencies
- Good time management
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Knowledge of HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment)
- Conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
- Basic understanding of safety rules and procedures
- Knowledge of OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act)
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the workshop
- Handle tools and equipment properly
- Conduct daily toolbox talks
- Support SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) compliance
