Job Advert Summary

  • Are you a meticulous individual with a passion for employee benefits? Do you thrive on designing, implementing and managing remuneration and benefits?
  • We are seeking a dedicated Remuneration and Benefits Specialist to join our Human Capital team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing the organisations remuneration and benefits policies and practices to attract, motivate and retain employees.
  • The role will be accountable for and manage day-to-day activities related to employee compensation, benefits, and job evaluation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to data entry, documentation, and financial accuracy.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders and provide clear reports.
  • Proactive & Organised: Ability to manage multiple claims concurrently, prioritise tasks, and follow up diligently to meet deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. SABPP membership advantageous
  • Experience: 4-5 years of experience in the same or similar role. Experience within the transport advantageous.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Developing and Managing Compensation Structures
  • Design and maintain competitive salary frameworks, pay structures and incentive plans aligned with market benchmarks and organisational goals.
  • Manage alignment between grading and salary.
  • Manage annual salary review, bonus, and the incentive process.
  • Guide development of reward and recognition programs.
  • Administrate performance-related pay through the linking of remuneration to performance outcomes through bonuses and incentive schemes.

Benefits Management

  • Develop a Benefits philosophy that supports the organisational employee value proposition.
  • Manage employee benefits programs including medical aid, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and leave policies.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for benefits vendors and brokers; ensure cost-effective, high-quality service.
  • Manage service agreement with benefit vendors.
  • Conduct regular audits of benefits plans and recommend improvements or adjustments as needed.

Thought Leadership and Market Research

  • Provide guidance to Human Capital and organisational leadership on compensation strategies, pay equity and rewards to support business objectives.
  • Analysing industry compensation trends and benchmarking to ensure Unitrans offerings are competitive and compliant with regulations.
  • Reporting & Data Management
  • Prepare regular reports on pay, benefits costs, and related HR metrics.
  • Support audits and internal reviews by providing required documentation and data.

Employee Communication & Engagement

  • Develop and deliver clear communication materials on pay and benefits programs.
  • Provide training and support to employees and managers regarding remuneration and benefits policies.
  • Assist in change management and employee engagement initiatives related to reward systems.

Compliance & Policies

  • Ensure pay and benefits policies comply with legal requirements, tax laws and labour regulations in all geographical entities.
  • Regularly evaluate and update remuneration and benefits policies to reflect changing market conditions and organisational needs.
